Viento del Sur

Southern Winds

Publications

Viento del Sur publications is an area of the Maitreya Foundation dedicated to the spreading of the Dharma to the Spanish-speaking world.  It is made up of a team of Zen practitioners who translate and edit classic and contemporary texts related to the Dharma, Zen and socially engaged Buddhism.

Currently Viento del Sur is leading the project, “Aitken in Spanish,” translating and editing the works of Roshi Robert Aitken, renown pioneer of Zen and socially engaged Buddhism in the western world.

AITKEN IN SPANISH

Why Robert Aitken?
Robert Aitken visited Argentina in 1989, where we met him, we trained with him and established a tie with him that has been inspiring us since then.
He is one of the first western Zen masters. He has had rigorous training with renown Japanese masters and has taught the practice of Zen to thousands of personas since 1974.

Reflected through his actions and writing is a strong commitment to the world and the times in which he lives, a sharp comprehension of the Dharma and faultless ethical conduct. He has left an inheritance of Zen teachers trained under him in the US, Europe, Australia and South America.

He is author of more than a dozen books that are fundamental in the development of Zen Buddhism in the western world. Among his impressive works only three titles have been translated in Spanish. We are assuming the challenge of bringing his complete works to the Spanish-speaking world to inspire the many practitioners of Buddhism, students of religion, and spiritual seekers in general.
